Teen Camp

Teen Camp

Ages 13-16

This week of camp the staff strive especially hard to create a safe environment where there is no pressure to act in order to impress others, and to make a place where everyone has a voice.  Every teen can ask a question and talk or tell a story without feeling insignificant or threatened.  The staff strive to live so the teens see in action what they read in their Bibles and hear in chapel.

The teens’ schedule is different than the other weeks. They get to sleep in longer and stay up later to play night games.  Like boys’ and girls’ camps each cabin builds a base camp in the bush out of tarps, poles and mortar near their campfire.  This is their spot and as a cabin group the teens make it as elaborate as they choose.  In the morning and afternoon the teens choose which electives they will go to as a cabin.  Later in the afternoon a large camp game is played.  Favourite all-camp games are Pool Baseball and Capture the Flag.  As well as having chapel in the morning, there is an optional time of discipleship just before supper that teens can attend who desire to learn more about God and how the Bible can be applied to their lives.  After dark more all-camp games are played.  Each year a new rendition of Mission Impossible is created for an exciting night.  Before bed the counsellors lead a devotional, teaching the teens real life truth from the Bible.
